Isn't copying *.dat files simple enough?

On the other hand, it would be nice to have plain-text file for the .dat files, not bencoded ones.

What's interesting, is how does uTorrent app deal with setting files from different versions of the application. If a setting option is undefined in the imported *.dat file, does application defaults to the default one?

Yes, this would be a very much appreciated funtion.

Just an option to get an .xml file or something and the option to import said file would suffice. That way you wouldn't have to find/know what files you need to copy and so on.

You can go into the AppData in the Roaming Folder and save the files the .dat files (ex. RSS.dat and the Settings.dat) however I agree that and Export/Import selection is needed. However I am just putting it out there that there is a way todo that now.

Currently i have a batch file that backs up and restores uTorrent settings but i would certanly appreciate a native export/import option.
Will vote once i have some spare votes.

This would be incredibly useful when for example having all downloads on an external harddrive and formatting your windows. All files still remain at the exact same spot, but you have to re-add hundreds of .torrents and re-check them aswell...

I suggested this as well. It's such a pain in the ass to search in my user folders just to save my settings and downloads.

I am certainly in favour of using utorrent.conf, rather than having to adjust settings manually.

This sounds like a good idea. This is kinda similar to Mozbackup for Mozilla software (Firefox, Thunderbird).

Well, you could go to uTorrent's directory for .torrent files (which you can custom-set, I don't remember the default), and grab the torrents from there. If you use the option to move completed .torrent files to another folder, it would be easy to only grab the active ones.

As for settings, I don't recall the default folder these files are in either, but if you just grab them and place them in the same directory as uTorrent, it'll use those. uTorrent is already highly portable, and can be kept, moved, and used within one folder - I have zero effort/setup to do when I install a new OS.

Needed. Also, a nice way to export all active torrents. In case I need to change computers or something. I know where the downloading of files is but the torrents are harder to find.
