Add a chatroom function with peers.
Have a function that allows the use of chat rooms with peers downloading the same torrent.
Perhaps have a chat key generated for the user like torchat.

Yes but this is not a new idea. It has been suggested and rejected repeatedly for many years now. The developers have no intention of implementing this type of functionality to the program. Probably because they know and understand the inherent problems of doing so and recognize the potential for abuse it would bring. Every software developed has been decompiled and examined by those who wish to exploit end-users, be they virus creators or spammers. I'm sure the developers of this outstanding client have no desire to open the door for these potential abusers to exploit. Don't get me wrong, there are many times when I have wanted to send a message to an individual peer to ask them to please give up that last chunk of data they've been dangling in front of me for hours or even days. I just don't believe the ability to do so should be built into the client program which is undeniably the best one out there to date. The developers seem to agree if the history of this often denied request is to be used as any indication. I believe some sort of IP message box system could be developed by some ambitious tech-head where you could join as a member and then receive messages sent to your registered IP by other registered members. Your IP adress would of course have to match the message box you were attempting to access, and you could only address messages to other registered accounts. Just an idea if anyone feels like grabbing the ball and running with it.

12 months and 200 comments later, this bad idea is still being pro-ed and con-ed to death. Please people just let it die. It's pretty much a dead issue that's NEVER going to happen. You would know this if you have ever spent any time at all in the feature request forums. I believe there are calls for this particular function dating as far back as 2005. It will not happen. Believe it.

It is a great idea for utorrent
You can send messages by compress and hash it in a small file & the sign of file send before sending messages on each session. -

Nice idea, but if your peers use proxy, you may send your msg to someone other.

The old BitComet (I think it was) had this. I know little about how it was implemented, but it was really nice to hear people complaining that they're all stuck at 80%, or the password is <whatever>, or the quality is poop. I am FAIRLY certain it was like an IRC channel of sorts: historical data was not there, so you only got what was said while you are in the torrent, but it was nice to ask questions.

This is a horrible idea, Downloaders would be bombarded with spam every 5 seconds, these chatrooms would be full of viagra sellers. Bad Idea.

chat room for each torrent will be amazing feature. it can help to share information about torrent itself (content) and its state (how long was last seeder appeared) etc

It would be obvious if you did add a chat function like soulseek, you would make virtual rooms the same as this program to allow you to meet people with the same interests, share information, and chat freely using real-time messages in public or private. Maybe encrypt these messages for privacy reasons

The real success of torrents is because of anonymity.
MicroSod and their likes would use the address routing, to link a particular user or group of users to an illegal or objectionable download and have proof to prosecute. Particularly the original seeders. Did the Piratebay saga teach us anything?{Why be the last man standing.

on soulseek which is another file sharing type protocol they have a chat function. it can be quite useful to use this
