Add a chatroom function with peers.
Have a function that allows the use of chat rooms with peers downloading the same torrent.
Perhaps have a chat key generated for the user like torchat.

Asking compulsive leechers to seed works exclusively in the universe behind the eyelids. Asking seeders to go out of their way to grant VIP access for your personal convenience, neglecting all other peers.. because it's asked politely.. Well, can't speak for others, but prepare to be mocked, or simply IP banned for even asking that. I was already convinced that it's mostly the sociopaths that want to chat, so they can all banter the seeders more effectively for their own needs and lack of patience. Still, it's refreshing to see the honesty about it.

Or can be used to politely ask seeders to stop seeding other torrents. Might be the best way to finish up those few-megabytes torrents with few-kilobytes download speed.

Im agreed with ogoid and at the same time Im agreed with Ron Berg. Youll see, if utorrent client could implement a chat room, It will be possible to chat with the "seeders", but! those old damn spammers and "chitchat people" you know, crap!!

ogoid, having chat does you no good when the seeds disconnect. NOTHING in this feature request would be an improvement over the systems already in place on torrent sites.

I do like the idea. It would be like Soulseek again :D but yea @vain, that's true but that is also why you don't give out ANY information in the downloading world as well and if I'm not mistaken, doesn't utorrent have a peerguardian-type functionality built in?

i think its important. i have lots of almost dead torrents, and i want to finish them or seed them. i like classic music and all kind of other rare stuffs. so its important and great to chat who are downloading the same thing. imagine discover by asking your seeder, what time he will be online and seeding. Who don't like comunication, just disable this as an option on utorrent. simple. i remember this option on kazaa and limewire?, but this programs are shit. utorrent please, be the best.

This is just a bad idea all together, all you would see is spammers on the chat and its a waste of bandwidth, one thing i have always liked about utorrent is somply this. Its been lightweight and without all the junk in it. Chat is just a waste of time and resources. I'm not here to chat on yet another chat program. I'm here to download the stuff I want and be done with it. utorrent isnt kazaa and the rest of the crap clients there were back in the day, lets keep utorrent clean of junk like this. I dont need to be wasting more bandwidth on sercives I use everywhere else on the net like msn, yahoo, facebook, aim. It's bad enough they are already adding junk like ratings and stuff into the 3.0 client. I dont see a need or use for this one either. Want to talk to your friends?, use one of the many IM programs designed exactly for that not put it into a torrent program. utorrent is starting to look like all the big heavy torrent programs(can we say vuze for a example) that i dont need to waste my hd space on.

Well add an option for chatting. If you dont want anyone to chat with you, add an option to allow/disallow and communication with peers. Add a password option, notification option, ect.

This is a very nice idea, but the spammers will use it badly. But it would be better if uTorrent would have a member service so only members can chat in these chat rooms, if a member is a spammer, the admins/moderators would kick/ban them.

Other clients tried it. The only people who tried to use it in those clients were spammers. -

my old download client before i started torrenting with utorrent, frost/limewire, but it was horrible. so many sex chatrooms. was a completely worthless waste of time. and i really don't see the point to this. Look at comments on torrent sites? they're not something to rely on. community reports, seeds, etc. that is something we need to see, not thx4seeding and seed!!! too slow!! etc. etc.what's the point?
