Considering today's pc's does it matter if it's micro or not?

Anyway it would be good to know before waiting for hours or days for downloading a movie if it's damn russian dubbed and has no comment.

Hate to participate in "negation" of an idea, however this is a big deal for all reasons already mentioned. 3 out of my 4 last votes go here.

Got my vote. Three of them. I use µ because it's light, I hope it keeps that way (but it doesn't look like it, because everybody wants an app to do anything)
But like Angar said I wouldn't mind a small "glitch" to be able to send msg's over IP's

(PS. Was of course not talking about the technical aspect here though: if it proves difficult to implement (and/or with annoying side-effects like blacke4dawn points out), then that's another thing of course)

Alright, sure: no to pointless stupid chatting in µTorrent...

...But _Y E S_ to a chat option to be able to ask to the ONE seed left for a given torrent if he/she would please temporarily up a little his/her upload rate so that you can finish yours and help seeding, or at least ask and make sure this very last seeder doesn't actually plan to remove the torrent and stop seeding before you actually get a chance to finish the download!!!!!!

So, fine to aim at keeping it simple, but we have 125 moronic votes here that apparently never had to suffer from not being able to finish a rare yet coveted download!!!!!! (Prolly because downloading _ONLY_ common popular and unoriginal stuff and following the social herd on absolutely everything...? Man, that's depressing).

uTorrent is a TORRENT client, not a CHAT client. The whole basis of uTorrent is that first letter, which isnt a "U" its the micro sign. The entire basis for this torrent client was to be small, and to be JUST a torrent client. Not bloated with all the extra crap other clients have been weighing down themselves with.

To add a chat feature to uTorrent would be to go against everything the client is supposed to be. If you want to chat about whatever torrent you are downloading, then chat in the comments section where you got it. Or chat in the IRC chan for the place where you got it. 99% of the trackers out there have an IRC channel somewhere. USE IT.

        @davvyboy
        No, it's not "that simple".

Since there are real central server in a bittorrent network there would be no central point to join and therefor any filtering would be done by the client which would still make you receive everything everyone said on every torrent you are running, and that would eat up bandwidth which is very precious and/or limited to some people.

Good god I would put all my 10 votes into this if I could

Exactly, there will not be any interesting conversations anyway. I've been taking a look at emule with it's full blown IRC client. Even in the largest global channels nobody is saying anything. It would be a huge waste on development and maintenance effort for a few requests that will probably make most people facepalm anyway.

agree, what is there to talk about?

        "Hello guys...the speed sucks today"
        "Yeah it does....."
"So....does any1 of you got friends?"
"nah that's why I am here"

        (Sample conversation)

Those who want to chat should install a suitable App.
Chat function doesn't seem to be basic utorrent function.
